THE STRAIGHT LINE

I finally feel as if I’m walking in straight line,

Vices of the past are no longer friends of mine,

And the demons keep chasing me through my head,

But I’m no longer chasing those demons, to me they are dead,

It’s a new life now, full of promise and dreams,

I’m moving on from the past, so it seems,

For the past has nothing left in it for me,

Just jaded realizations and foolish actions I now see,

My heart finally knows the beauty of sobriety,

And it knows of one whose beauty is my reality,

You’re the new rhythm that I pursue,

In you, I find love unconditional through and through,

There is no leeway from this path to stray,

And it feels so good to be finally walking in the right way,

I know that there will be moments when I need your hand,

To take mine, and remind me that I always can,

That I can find strength through your love,

And that I can always find guidance from above,

So as I wake to this a new day,

Your love will never leave me I do pray,

I believe it to be honest and true,

And may I forever walk in a straight line that led me to you.
