ODDITIES OF THE MIND
What are these mysteries the mind does weave?
Caught up in a web of delusion I cannot leave,
Mythical mockery often ending in surprise,
Hallucinations of the sub-conscious I do realize,
If only for a moment they are true to the touch,
The meaning behind them can tell so much,
Are yours in color like mine will be tonight?
Or do you dream in monotone, a subtle black and white?
Do you chase the ones you feel can be caught?
Or fend off the enemies through the illusions to be fought?
Dreams, such oddities of the mind,
I hope in them wisdom you will find,
I believe there is a reason why,
Maybe they are just an escape for you and I,
Or perhaps there is something in them so profound,
No matter what their purpose they follow us around,
So when you lay your head down tonight,
I hope the sweetest of these visions find you all right,
If you find one that you feel you can chase, then don’t delay,
For the persistence of time always stands in our way.
