A QUESTION I ASK

A QUESTION I ASK

I can no longer take the weariness of being alone anymore,

So tonight I’m reaching for the knob to unlock my door,

I might be rejected, but I am opening it for you,

For I know you feel the pain of loneliness too,

Take your time if you need to think about it,

I will be waiting, I know the emotions involved, so here I’ll sit,

I know from the past not to take it slow,

But more importantly not to rush it so,

Take your own pace,

I just want to see your smiling face,

That is if this is what you want,

Maybe I’m foolish and arrogant,

And read the signals all the wrong way,

If that is true don’t feel bad we’ll each find a day,

But the banter between us makes me smile,

Something I haven’t felt in quite a while,

You have shown to be a true friend,

Through words of wisdom, this I cannot let end,

I believe we can take it a step further if we try,

So tonight ask yourself this and then reply,

Is it me who he is speaking to?

Sprigs of hair sticking out or not, of course it is you.
