A KISS GOODBYE
This is my kiss goodbye,
Dry your tears, no need to cry,
You lacked the integrity to say it to my face,
So with candor, I’ll write of your disgrace,
You knew this day would come,
Where in poetry I’d bring you down some,
In your message you said to lash out,
In a harshly calm tone that’s what this is about,
You spoke of values and how mine are tainted,
In your eyes maybe that’s the picture you painted,
Yet who are you to judge me?
I answer to one, our God almighty,
I don’t discount all that you say,
You have the right to change hypocritical ways,
In fact, I admire you if what you say is true,
There’s a definite difference that separates me from you,
I am who I am, that’s all I’ll ever be,
Whether right or wrong, nobody will change me,
It’s quite a shame,
How you besmirched my name,
In the message you wrote me,
I could turn the tables and do the same to thee,
But it’s not in my nature to degrade somebody,
Especially so publicly,
So I’ll easily let go of you,
Because in the end, we both know it wasn’t true,
Dry your tears, there’s no need to cry,
This is merely my way of kissing you goodbye.
