DOES LOVE DIE?

DOES LOVE DIE?

Where does love go when it dies?

When no longer can you see it in another’s eyes?

Or is there always the flicker of a flame,

Deep within their heart, does an ember remain?

Does it simply fade away?

Only to come back another day,

Is love just another tragedy of our simple minds?

Such fragile souls are those of mankind,

Over the years, I’ve come to realize,

True love is never ending and it never really dies,

Remnants of the cinders in us all remain,

There’s always the possibility to ignite the fire again,

Scoff at my belief, but love runs deep,

And forever a piece of it your heart does keep,

It’s a mystery as to how it can survive,

All the heartache, but somehow it remains alive,

If it didn’t still exist,

Why would the thought of it persist?

With the mere mention of a past love’s name,

Why would it provoke emotion just the same?

I guess what I’m trying to say,

Is that love never really does die it simply fades for another day.
