TONIGHT I CRY

Tonight I cry,

For boundless reasons why,

I cry for the friend who mourns,

I shed a tear for the soul reborn,

For the selfish lost in themselves,

And for the selfless who give of their selves,

Tonight I cry because I’m not with my love,

Tears well up for those who look upon us from above,

For those caught up in the world’s disarray,

Tears of happiness for the promise of a brighter day,

Tonight I cry as I pray,

And for the sacrifice He made,

So that we all may be forgiven of sin,

Tonight I cry for the joy within,

Of knowing when I see her face,

My troubles briefly leave this place,

A place, a planet that grows dim,

Where so many believe it revolves upon their whim,

I cry for the happiness my heart has found,

For my love for her is so deeply profound,

Happy or sad, there are many reasons why,

But tonight, I cry.
