LOST IN DREAMS





I try to not make even a peep,

For lying next to me I’m watching beauty sleep,

The gentle glow of this computer screen,

Illuminates the most precious thing I’ve ever seen,

I try not to stare,

For I fear she can feel my glare,

So I try to sneak in a small glance,

Because I do not want to take the chance,

Of waking her from wherever it is she dreams,

It is a peaceful place it seems,

I wonder if I am there with her,

That’s a question to which I’ll never find an answer,

I’d like to think that I am at her side,

Fighting off dragons or romping inside,

Through meadows filled with wildflowers,

Or saving mankind with our superpowers,

Oh how I wish I could see,

If she is merely dreaming of me,

Such a beautiful creature tucked under her blankets tight,

Sleep well my love, for the dawn will soon overtake the night,

And the realities of this world will soon be in play,

But the positive is that it’s another day,

Full of possibility,

Another day it is for you and me.
