THE DEFINITION OF LOVE

How do you define love?

Many will tell you it’s a gift from above,

There are so many synonyms and definitions,

Anywhere from a sentiment to adoration and adulation,

We know it’s an emotion that comes from within,

And most recognize it as simply a passion,

I say throw all that nonsense out the window,

Love is truly more than just something we feel or show,

It’s the bread that feeds our souls,

It’s the one emotion of which we have no control,

It cannot be forced or pushed upon someone,

Love is a reaction of chemicals from which our brain has spun,

It’s the very core of our existence,

It’s a constant tugging on our heart with great persistence,

It’s something that every human strives to seek,

Love can take the strongest and most stubborn and make them weak,

It has the most prodigious of power,

It will find us in our darkest hour,

It can and will shine down upon us,

Love deserves the utmost respect and requires the greatest of trust,

When it finds you, all you want is to proclaim its wonder,

When it eludes you, all you can do is curse its blunder,

So, how exactly do you define love?

You can’t! For it is far greater than anything Webster can think of.
