THIS SMILE
You made me smile tonight,
Its hours later yet still I’m smiling bright,
Your voice was beautiful to hear,
Each time you spoke I wished you were near,
With my nerves abound,
I doubt I uttered a single sentence profound,
But you humored me nonetheless,
I’ll admit leading up to our gab I was a mess,
Now begins the hardest part,
The anticipation building in my head and heart,
Such agony anticipation is,
Or am I making too much of this?
I must make a quaint confession,
Ever since we began our banter sessions,
Some people, including yourself, have asked who?
Who inspires the words I write… quite simply its been you,
The girl on the bench, on the dock and with whom I danced the night away,
You are the muse that provoked my words to sway,
From episode to episode, and in each particular place,
All I imagined was your smiling face,
Neither of us knows what tomorrow will bring,
But for now it is your song that my words do sing.
