1976
Take me back to nineteen seventy-six,
Back when I was oblivious to all of this,
This madness the world likes to spew,
A time when I was loved by many and not just a few,
Where my mind had not one care,
But laughter to all I could share,
When people who now despise me for reasons unknown,
Would hold me in their arms as if I were their own,
Back when love was unconditional for me,
Back when I was the pride of my mommy and daddy,
Before I knew the cruelties of this place,
When nothing but amazement consumed my face,
Take me back to avoid future mistakes,
Take me back just one day for old times sake,
So I can breathe the freshness of a promising air,
Please take me back there,
Take me back to the arms of my mom and dad,
So I could relive a day without the emotion called sad,
Back to a time when loved ones showered me with kisses,
Please, just once let me again have a piece of nineteen seventy-six.
