LOVE’S CLICHES

LOVE’S CLICHES

She felt she had a bulletproof heart,

Always saying that’s what set her apart,

“I don’t believe in love’s clichés.” She’d often say,

She believed them to be foolhardy in their ways,

Oh but how one single moment can affect the brain,

As well as the heart, when the ludicrous becomes mundane,

I suppose ordinary isn’t the best way to describe it,

You see one day the extraordinary did hit,

Right smack dab in her face,

And no longer would she feel that love was just commonplace,

Somehow it seems,

She was stricken by the man of her dreams,

It was love at first sight,

She was holding on for dear life,

Her heart began pulsating to a different rhythm,

With butterflies abounding, stutter she did in her hello to him,

Love was no longer blind,

Was this her prince charming she did find?

They talked a while,

Each sending the other a shy smile,

The day lasted into the night sky,

Love is a many splendored thing, my oh my,

So if someone tells you they do not believe in love’s clichés,

Tell them to hold on, and maybe they too will change their ways.
