IMPOSSIBLY INDELIBLE

She looked at me and said, “You’re so impossibly indelible!”

To this day, I’m not sure if she knew what that meant,

Even so, I replied, “Your so beautifully incredible.”

It was moments like that which were enjoyably spent.

I remember the times like those that we did share,

Like the times she’d kiss my cheek for no reason why,

Or how she’d chase her breath in the benumbed winter’s air,

Unforgettable twinkles that always seemed to fly by.

We never knew those moments wouldn’t last,

She was content on settling down,

While I was always chasing dreams from my childhood’s past,

I was the one who felt the need to leave behind this town.

Yet something happened, life called and we had to say our goodbyes,

Opportunity knocked and she felt it was best to leave this place,

Our last day together was spent with tears in our eyes,

I spent most of it drying them from off her beautiful face.

Funny how her words turned out to be true,

For I’m deep rooted here and where she is, I wish I knew.
