GODSPEED

For as long as there is a breath in me I’ll be waiting,

It’s a decision that requires no self-debating,

You’re all I ever want and you’re all that I’ll ever need,

My hope is that you find yourself out there and with Godspeed,

May your hopes and dreams come to fruition,

May you realize your every ambition,

Letting go is not an easy thing for me to do,

Yet I’m doing it so, because I’m in love with you,

As the old adage goes, I’m setting you free,

In hopes that someday your journey leads you back to me,

You will be in my thoughts and prayers every day,

Asking God to be with you every step along your way,

Bittersweet it is, for it saddens me to see you go,

But it enlightens me to know,

That you are chasing your dreams, which you seek to obtain,

Clichés and frowns, from which I will refrain,

With a single tear in my eye,

I simply say to you, Godspeed and goodbye.
