CHASING AN APPARITION
It’s an apparition I’ve been chasing,
Merely a ghost that I am facing,
I’m beginning to believe it’s a figment of my imagination,
A false impression due to hallucination,
Yes, an allusion to an illusion,
Perhaps much deeper like a delusion,
It leaves me tangled in a web of confusion,
It is the spider that comes from out of reclusion,
I am her feast,
Such a man-eating beast,
It will not spare me in the least,
For its chicanery will spurn me until I cease,
What is this phantom I speak of?
It is the wicked notion of a thing called love.
