SHADOWS OF YESTERDAY

I wish I could throw it all away,

Into the shadows of yesterday,

I’m filled with such damn regret,

She’s one love that I never shall forget,

I wish I could have given her the best of me,

All the time I was too stubborn to let it be,

Now all I ask is to be reborn with a spotless mind,

Where memories of her I can no longer find,

Lost in another era is where they need to be,

And end this torture upon me,

For reasons I will never know,

The heartache of this love just won’t let go,

Let the shadows of yesterday come calling,

And bury this anguish of a broken heart with the fallen,

But when it’s time for the whipping wind,

Thoughts of her begin to stir again,

Why must you haunt me love so cruel?

You’re quite sadistic with an agony so painful,

I can’t erase the things that I’ve done,

So into the shadows of yesterday I must run,

And if I make it out to the other side,

I pray that everything stayed in the shadows to hide.
