HE LOVED YOU AND ME

HE LOVED YOU AND ME

For He so loved you and me,

He gave the world His only Son to be,

To be our savior if only we believe,

A truth I find to be of great relief,

For I was born into this world with sin,

In my heart I carry thoughts of His teachings within,

I can only imagine the weight of the cross He bore,

Chastised by His own must have pained Him to the core,

He was shamefully stripped,

He was relentlessly whipped,

He was nailed to that cross for all of us, including you,

Yet His words were, “Father forgive them, they know not what they do.”

He shed his blood, sweat and tears,

He has been the Truth through all these years,

I live with sin each and every day,

Yet I am forgiven each and every time I pray,

Whether it be sinful actions or sinful thoughts,

I am forgiven as the Bible’s teachings have taught,

He didn’t suffer all that unfathomable pain,

Nor did His mother cry at His feet in vain,

He died for you and me,

And rose again so that we might see,

See that He is alive and strong,

And if we ask, He’ll forgive us of our wrongs,

God gave us His only Son to be,

All because He so loved you and me.
