DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY

DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY

Walking hand in hand along the city streets tonight,

Your hand grasping mine ever so tight,

As we neared the river’s edge,

The moon began to rise up over the hedges,

I took my coat off and draped it on your shoulders,

For I could tell you were growing colder,

I pulled you close, next to me,

Exactly where you were suppose to be,

I reached into my coat pocket and pulled out a set of earbuds,

“How did those get there?” I shrugged.

One for me and one for you,

You smiled that wonderful smile and I smiled back too,

You placed your coat swallowed arms around my neck,

The first kiss began with just a peck,

But as the words of the songs spoke to us more profound,

The heat between us became more unbound,

You would lay your head upon my chest,

When it seemed your eyes needed a little rest,

But you kept coming back looking up at me,

With that smile so beautifully silly,

With every beat our hips began to sway,

And before we knew the night had turned into day,

Oh what a feeling, just you and I, dancing the night away…
