THREE DAYS
Today her world consists only of black and white,
She’s staring out the window trying to shed some light,
On all the things she’s felt went wrong.
She keeps telling herself that she’s got to remain strong.
As a single strand of her hair dangles forward,
She takes another sip of wine and tells herself to move onward.
With every breath she can only think of him,
And with every tear she remembers her lost best friend.
It’s only been three days, yet she can’t believe he’s really gone.
Voices in the background are just a mumbled tone.
Three days of misery and asking God why,
But to question her faith is her only cry.
He was her world, her reason for living,
Condolences mean little to her now, but they’re still given.
They won’t bring back the joy, his touch nor his love.
Her only hope is that she merely buried a body today,
And that his soul rests beyond and above.
Today her world consists only of black and white,
And she’s staring out the window trying to shed some light…
