sweet dream

SWEET DREAM

As she lay sound asleep hand tucked under her pillow,
I quietly lean up behind her and am amazed.
For I can see her slumbering smile via the moon’s glow.
Is she smelling wildflowers in her eyes shut gaze?

Or could it be me who has brought joy to her dream?
I brush her hair behind her ear with tender fingers,
I kiss her softly on the cheek and her smile begins to gleam,
This serenity, I can only pray that it lingers.

I wrap my arm around her and snuggle up close,
Just taking in this moment and the happiness it brings.
The scent of her vanilla shampoo permeates my nose,
I cherish this moment, our love, as my heart sings.

My eyes begin to bat and become weary and weak,
It’s time for me to drift off myself it must seem,
She’s fading away and I can not speak,
Suddenly I have awoke from my own sweet dream.
